UIN Jakarta Library - Do you often find it difficult to find the right scholarly article for your academic assignment? Or maybe you've spent hours just looking for one relevant article? Don't worry, there is now a practical solution that can help you overcome this problem.

Last Wednesday (4/9) in the 7th floor meeting room of UIN Jakarta Library building, Hayatunnisa, one of the UIN Jakarta Library Managers, provided information and explanations on the use of 'Advanced Search' for JSTOR e-resource, one of the world's leading academic databases.

“Searching using 'Advanced Search', is a practical solution to get quality scientific articles that are difficult to find.” Hayatunnisa said in her explanation.

'Advanced Search' on JSTOR is a feature that allows users to conduct more detailed and specific searches. “After you (students) have successfully logged into JSTOR, to narrow down the search for scientific journal searches, use the 'Advanced Search' feature. JSTOR provides the use of 'Boolean' (AND, OR, NOT) which is very helpful to combine or narrow down certain keywords, so that the search results are more relevant and what you are looking for.” Hayatunnisa, who is also an Alumni of UIN Jakarta Library Science, explained.

By using this feature, users can more easily find articles or publications that really match the research topic being sought. This feature is very helpful for academic or research tasks in finding specific and quality references.

Hayatunnisa hopes that after attending this literacy class, Ushuluddin Faculty students can utilize JSTOR e-resources for coursework and thesis preparation. “I want to see students can enrich the literature in using these e-resources for coursework or even when compiling a thesis later,” concluded Hayatunnisa.

Please note, this literacy class is attended by all new students of the Faculty of Ushuluddin for the 2024/2025 academic year, every day, until September 13, 2024. Various materials, ranging from the introduction to the use of libraries, online catalogs (OPAC), access to e-resources, to references management tools. In addition to the presentation of material that will be delivered by UIN Jakarta Librarians, new students are immediately practiced on how to use it.
