In addition to Digital Innovation, IAIN Ponorogo Librarians Learn e-journal Database Management

UIN Jakarta Library, News Online - In the era of growing digital transformation, innovation in the library world does not only stop at providing online services, but also involves how to more efficiently manage digital resources, especially scientific journals.

On the occasion of the 'Library Tour' conducted by the Librarian of the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Ponorogo to the State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta Library, last Thursday (3/10), Mujiati, M.E., an Associate Expert Librarian from IAIN Ponorogo, realized that managing e-journals requires a deeper understanding of how information from scientific articles, such as titles, abstracts, and other details, are organized into an online database system.

Mujiati, was interested in asking Hayatunnisa, S.IP., a UIN Jakarta e-journal Database Manager. 'Mba, how do you process printed journals and articles into the online database system?” asked Mujiati.

Hayatunnisa shared her experience and explained how to process e-journal databases, from how to write titles to abstracts that are entered into the online system, which are important elements in searching and indexing scientific articles. “Every element of a scientific article must be processed and inputted into the database, starting from writing an accurate title, abstract summary, to applying appropriate keywords.” Hayatunnisa said.

Database management is crucial to ensure the journals can be accessed easily by library users, ranging from lecturers, researchers, to students. “The success of e-journal management is highly dependent on the accuracy of metadata filling. Every detail such as title and abstract serves to make it easier for users to find the articles they need,” he added.

“We are very grateful to the UIN Jakarta Library Team, which has provided an opportunity for us to visit and be able to see firsthand the development of digital technology that has been implemented at the UIN Jakarta Library,” concluded Mujiati *RMr
