Librarian Learning #series 3, UIN Jakarta Library holds RAPID ILL Socialization to Improve Library Services
UIN Jakarta Library, News Online - 22 August 2024 - In an effort to continue improving library services, UIN Jakarta Library held the Librarian Learning #series3 program with a focus on the socialization of RAPID ILL (Rapid Interlibrary Loan). The activity that took place today (Thursday, August 22, 2024) in the 7th floor meeting room of the UIN Jakarta library building was attended by librarians and library managers at UIN Jakarta. This event presented Lie Ie Chiao, an expert in the field of digital resources and information.
In his speech, the Head of UIN Jakarta Library, Agus Rifai, Ph.D., stated that this socialization is part of UIN Jakarta Library's commitment to continue to innovate in library services to the academic community. “RAPID ILL is not just about access, but about accessing information quickly and easily to library users. With this system, we can support each other in providing quality literature for the academic community of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, so that the learning and research process can be optimized,” said Agus Rifai.
Lie Ie Chiao, in his presentation, emphasized the importance of collaboration between libraries globally in the digital era. “RAPID ILL opens the door for libraries to connect globally, enabling resource sharing quickly and effectively. This is a big step in advancing education and research on a global level,” said Lie Ie Chiao when explaining what RAPID ILL is.
RAPID ILL (Rapid Interlibrary Loan) is an application system (software) for information access services and e-resources requests (articles, journals and books) from various scientific fields between libraries in the world. More than 500 libraries worldwide have joined RAPID ILL, enabling interlibrary users to access the e-resources they need.
Participants in this event had the opportunity to learn and demonstrate the use of RAPID ILL and discuss its application in UIN Jakarta library. This event is expected to encourage the improvement of library services, making them more responsive to the needs of users.
The Librarian Learning #Series 3 activity is part of a series of librarian and library manager competency development programs that are routinely held by UIN Jakarta Library, with different themes for each session. Hopefully, through programs like this, UIN Jakarta Library continues to be a pioneer in the development of modern and technology-based library services.
Through this activity, UIN Jakarta Library hopes that librarians and library managers can apply the new knowledge gained to provide more responsive and innovative services to users. That way, the library is not only a place to store books, but also a dynamic information center that supports academic needs more comprehensively. (Rizki Mulyarahman)
