UIN Jakarta Library Building, News Online – The Library of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta has once again been entrusted to become a reference for the development of university libraries in Indonesia. On Thursday (July 9th), the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Andalas University Library conducted a comparative study visit and explored opportunities for strategic collaboration in developing modern library services.

The visit demonstrated the growing importance of collaboration between university libraries in addressing the challenges of digital transformation, strengthening information literacy, and improving the quality of services for the academic community.

The Andalas University delegation was led by Yenny Narny, Secretary of the Andalas University Library Unit. The group was warmly welcomed by the UIN Jakarta Library staff, including the Head of the Library, Mudianah Mahmud, Septian Nurhakim, Priyo Supriyadi, and Moh. Ainur Rofiq.

The discussion was warm and cordial. Both institutions agreed and emphasized that libraries today play an increasingly strategic role. No longer merely a place to store collections, libraries have evolved into knowledge hubs that support learning, research, innovation, and a culture of literacy within the university environment.

On this occasion, Yenny Narny explained that this visit aimed to study various best practices that have been implemented by the UIN Jakarta Library in developing services that are adaptive to technological developments.

"We hope to gain information and share best practices developed by the UIN Jakarta Library. Furthermore, we hope this visit will be the beginning of a sustainable collaboration," said Yenny.

Representing the Head of the Library, Mudianah Mahmud expressed her appreciation for the visit of the Andalas University Library Unit, which she considered a momentum to strengthen networks and open up opportunities for collaboration between institutions.

"We welcome the visit from the Andalas Library Unit as part of our efforts to strengthen the network of university libraries in Indonesia. Collaborations like this provide a space for sharing experiences, exchanging ideas, and providing services that are increasingly relevant to the needs of the academic community. We believe that library progress is born from a spirit of growth and learning together," said Mudianah.

Meanwhile, Septian Nurhakim added that library transformation is not solely determined by technological advancements, but rather by the institution's ability to provide services that are centered on user needs. "Library transformation isn't just about technology, but about how to provide services that are more accessible, responsive, and impactful for users," Septian said.

One of the topics of concern during the discussion was how libraries can address the changing behavior of the younger generation, who are now more familiar with digital services than print collections. Therefore, service innovation, technology utilization, and strengthening librarian competencies are urgent needs.

At the conclusion of the discussion, the two institutions exchanged souvenirs, symbolizing that this meeting was more than just strengthening inter-institutional ties; it reflected a spirit of togetherness in building libraries as spaces of knowledge that continue to transform.
