Discussing Literacy and Integration of Islamic Resources, UIN Jakarta Library Visits LPMQ
Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) Jakarta, News Online – To strengthen Al-Qur’an literacy and the integration of Islamic scientific resources, the Library of the State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta visited the Library Lajnah Pentashihan Mushaf Al-Qur’an (LPMQ), Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. The visit, which took place at the LPMQ office in East Jakarta on Wednesday (June 4), discussed opportunities for strategic collaboration between the two institutions in the areas of developing Islamic literature collections and utilizing library technology.
The delegation from the UIN Jakarta Library was led by the Head of the Library, Agus Rifai, Ph.D., along with Heru Widodo, S.IP., Mudianah Mahmud, S.IP., and Rusdi Tumanggor. They were welcomed directly by the Head of LPMQ, H. Abdul Aziz Sidqi, M.Ag.
During the meeting, both parties explored cooperation to integrate LPMQ publications—including mushaf, tafsir, and supporting literature—into the official catalog of the UIN Library. “We want to make the library a reference center for Al-Qur’an literacy for the academic community and the wider community,” said Agus Rifai. He emphasized the importance of providing authoritative academic and inclusive scientific resources.
LPMQ itself is currently in the spotlight for its innovative approach to Al-Qur'an education, including through an interactive museum that presents the history of the mushaf and tafsir using the latest technology. The UIN Jakarta Library delegation also appreciated this as part of an experience-based literacy learning strategy.
Abdul Aziz Sidqi welcomed the collaboration proposal positively. He emphasized that LPMQ is ready to support the strengthening of Al-Qur'an literacy through the provision of library materials and various relevant educational programs. He also added that this step is in line with LPMQ's mandate to maintain the authenticity and dissemination of authoritative and moderate understanding of the Al-Qur'an.
Both institutions are committed to following up on these discussions by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the near future. The synergy between the UIN Jakarta Library and LPMQ is expected to become a model for the integration of Islamic literacy based on digital, physical, and educational resources. *RMr
