UIN Jakarta Library Building, News Online – Digital technology is considered to play a strategic role in expanding access to understanding the Qur'an among the community. This was stated by the Head of the Quran Mushaf Authentication Commitee (LPMQ) of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), Dr. H. Abdul Aziz Sidqi, M.Ag., during the Library Festival 2025 talk show, which took place on Friday (June 20, 2025), at the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Library.

In a talkshow titled "Digitalization of the Qur'an and Islamic Literacy Through the Lajnah Library & Ministry of Religious Affairs Qur'an Application," Aziz said that digitalization is a necessity in the era of the Industrial Revolution 5.0 and should be used as a means of improving religious literacy. "Technology is a new way to bring us closer to the Quran," emphasized Dr. H. Abdul Aziz Shidqi, M.Ag., Head of  the Quran Mushaf Authentication Commitee (LPMQ), in front of participants from academic circles, students, and Islamic literacy activists.

Aziz explained that LPMQ is a work unit under the Religious Moderation and Human Resource Development Agency (BMBPSDM) of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs. This institution has a primary mandate in the process of authenticating the Al-Qur'an mushaf and developing moderate and academic-based scientific studies based on the Al-Qur'an.

One of the leading digital innovations introduced by LPMQ at the event was the pustakalajnah.kemenag.go.id. This portal is a digital library of the Al-Qur'an that presents a variety of collections of tafsir books, scientific studies, and official publications on the Al-Qur'an that have been authenticated and published by LPMQ. Additionally, Azis introduced the Qur’an Kemenag app, a digital platform that provides the complete Qur’an text with official translations, thematic commentaries, audio recitations, and thematic search features.

This application is designed to meet the needs of the community for access to authentic, valid, and easy-to-use readings and understanding of the Qur'an, amid the rapid development of information technology. “With Pustaka Lajnah and the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Quran aplication, we want to make it easier for the community to access the Qur'an comprehensively, both in terms of reading and understanding,” said Azis.

Islamic Literacy in the Era of the Industrial Revolution 5.0
Azis also emphasized the importance of technological adaptation in strengthening the religious values of society. According to him, strengthening Islamic digital literacy is a necessity in the era of the Industrial Revolution 5.0, where digital transformation has touched all aspects of life, including in terms of understanding religious teachings. “Pustaka Lajnah and the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Quran aplication are part of the digitalization strategy we are promoting to improve the Qur'anic literacy of the Indonesian people,” he added.

Commitment to Religious Moderation Through Technology
The talk show, held as part of the Library Festival 2025, also reaffirms the commitment of UIN Jakarta, LPMQ and the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia  to build an inclusive, moderate, and technology-adaptive Islamic ecosystem.
