Perpuspedia UIN Jkt - Eid al-Adha, one of the major holidays in Islam, also known as Hari Raya Kurban, is one of the major holidays in Islam that is full of meaning and wisdom. Every year, Muslims around the world celebrate this moment with joy and gratitude. On this occasion, we not only commemorate the story of the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim AS and his son, Prophet Ismail AS, but also take valuable lessons from the story to be applied in everyday life, including in carrying out duties as a State Civil Apparatus (ASN).
In this meaningful moment, Agus Rifai, Head of the State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta Library, conveyed a deep message about the importance of the spirit of sacrifice and totality in carrying out duties as ASN.

Exemplifying the Sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim AS. Prophet Ibrahim AS was known for his extraordinary obedience to Allah SWT. When ordered to sacrifice his much-loved son, Prophet Ismail AS, he did not hesitate or question the order. With full sincerity and resignation, he was ready to carry out Allah's orders. However, at the last moment, Allah replaced Prophet Ismail AS with a sheep as a form of His mercy and compassion. This story teaches us about the importance of total obedience to God, even if it means making great sacrifices.

Agus Rifai emphasized that the story of Prophet Ibrahim AS who was ready to sacrifice his son on the orders of Allah SWT was an extraordinary form of sacrifice. "Prophet Ibrahim AS showed extraordinary obedience, sincerity, and totality in carrying out God's orders. These values are very relevant for us, especially ASNs, in carrying out daily tasks," he said.

As ASN, we can take many lessons from this story. The sacrifice and obedience shown by Prophet Ibrahim AS can be implemented in the form of dedication and commitment in carrying out our duties and responsibilities. ASN is the main pillar in public service. Therefore, it takes totality in work to ensure that the community gets the best service.

Totality as a State Civil Apparatus (ASN)
Totality at work means giving your best in every task you take on, not just working half-heartedly or just doing the routine. It means prioritizing public interests over personal interests, working with integrity, and always striving to improve service quality. This spirit is in line with the values taught in the story of the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim AS.
As ASN, there are many things we can learn from the story of Prophet Ibrahim AS to apply in our daily work.

Sincerity in Work. As ASN, we must work with sincerity, not only to fulfill obligations or task demands, but also with the intention of providing the best service to the community. This sincerity is a strong foundation for building integrity and professionalism in work.
Sacrifice for the Public Good. Just as Prophet Ibrahim AS was willing to sacrifice something very valuable, ASN must also be ready to sacrifice for the benefit of the community. This could mean going the extra mile, sacrificing personal time, or even facing challenges and obstacles in carrying out duties.
Compliance with Rules and Ethics. The obedience of Prophet Ibrahim AS to the commands of Allah SWT reflects the importance of complying with existing rules and ethics. ASN must always comply with applicable regulations, laws, and codes of ethics in carrying out their duties. This compliance is a reflection of the integrity and professionalism of an ASN.
Dedication and Loyalty. The loyalty of Prophet Ibrahim AS to Allah SWT also teaches us about the importance of dedication and loyalty at work. ASN must be loyal and highly dedicated to its duties and responsibilities to achieve common goals in providing the best service to the community.

Sowing Sacrificial Values in ASN's Life
This Eid al-Adha moment is the right time to reflect on and internalize the values of sacrifice and sincerity in everyday life, especially in our role as ASN. By emulating Prophet Ibrahim AS, we are expected to become better ASNs, more sincere, and more totality in serving the community.

Let us make Eid al-Adha a momentum to strengthen our commitment to provide the best service to the community, and sacrifice personal interests for the common good. Hopefully the noble values from the story of Prophet Ibrahim AS can continue to inspire and guide us in carrying out our duties as ASNs who are professional, have integrity, and are highly dedicated.
